Liberal Party Senatorial candidate, 'Teacher' Neric Acosta expresses his full support for the Education Nation and the concerted efforts of the Philippine Business for Education (PBEd) to forward education as the key issue of the 2010 elections. He states that: "the 10 'doable things' for education provides a clear roadmap how to reform the education system."
"As legislator for three-consecutive terms and as a teacher, I signify my keen interest in helping champion this 10-point agenda. Essentially, most of these points -- empowering teachers, increasing the education budget up to 5 percent of GNP, ensuring universal access to education, and maximizing alternative learning -- are already included in my platform as senatorial candidate of the Liberal Party."
'Teacher' Neric Acosta also emphasizes that "it is indeed deplorable that Philippine education indicators are below those of countries like Zambia and Tanzania. There is every need for leaders of this country to embrace the challenges of addressing the dismal deterioration of our education system, and for all stakeholders to work together to salvage the country's very future."
