“It’s an Ampatuan against local LP leaders,” a friend commented.

His remark struck me not just because it seems “Ampatuan” has come to signify any shocking, bloody event, but also because he was referring to the succession of unfavorable decisions by the Commission on Elections against local leaders of the Liberal Party.

The LP is fielding the formidable presidential and vice presidential tandem of Senators Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III and Manuel "Mar" Roxas II, a complete "Peoples' Reform" senatorial ticket and a strong local line-up in the 2010 elections.

AIE BALAGTAS SEE, GMANews.TV

The Liberal Party (LP) and Kaya Natin movement slammed the Arroyo administration on Monday for what they called its “vendetta politics" against at least three governors, whose victories in the 2007 local elections are now being subjected to recounting just because “they are LP members."

This after they received reports that the Commission on Election’s (Comelec) second division will rule against Isabela Gov. Grace Padaca and Pampanga Gov. Ed Panililio on the recount cases filed against them by their political rivals in the 2007 polls.
