LP Senatorial Candidate Teacher Neric Acosta: Villarroyo Conspiracy Highly Likely

“I believe that the annoyed denial of Nacionalista Party standard-bearer Manny Villar of his secret team-up with Ms. Gloria Arroyo, is a clear sign of his guilt.” Liberal Party Senatorial candidate Teacher Neric Acosta notes that Villar’s violent reaction to consistent reports linking Villar’s candidacy to the current administration’s machinery is a sign that the presidential candidate may be up to something in this coming May 2010 election.

Anger as defense mechanism

“Instead of being ‘furious’ as reports say, over the Liberal Party’s statements that Manny Villar is teaming up with Ms. Arroyo, I think Mr. Villar should step up to the challenge and prove us wrong once and for all. Acosta strongly believes that Villar has a lot to hide, instead of tackling the accusations head-on, Villar simply denies the accusations. “We know that denials have never been good explanations for issues hounding a person.”

Proof of malice

“Now, Villar has the gall to say that the Liberal Party is behind these reports linking his candidacy to the present administration. The Liberal Party of the Philippines does not need to resort to such means in order to strengthen our campaign, because from the onset, our campaign has always been a people-powered driven campaign.” Acosta defends the Liberal Party from Villar’s vicious statements that the party is the one behind the alleged ‘demolition job’.

Interestingly, it was an unnamed Lakas senatorial candidate who was quoted by the Inquirer and elaborated on the on going talks between Villar and Arroyo’s camp. Acosta said.

Principled leadership

“Villar is a master of deception. Villar’s teaming up with the present administration perpetuates a cycle of apathy and greed. Tama na sa ganitong uri ng mga tao na lalo lang magpapahirap sa ating bansa.” Acosta lament the fact that our country lacks true political leaders.

“If we want change to begin in our country, we must be careful in choosing leaders this coming May election.” Acosta ends.

LP Senatorial Candidate Teacher Neric Acosta: Save ENERGY, Save the EARTH, Save OURSELVES

“I am calling on our fellow Filipinos to join this year’s Earth Hour. I hope we can surpass our achievement last year,” says Liberal Party Senatorial candidate Teacher Neric Acosta. In 2009, over 10 million Filipinos in 647 cities and municipalities switched off their lights during Earth Hour.  An estimated 611MHh of electricity was saved (equivalent to a temporary shutdown of a dozen coal-fired power plants). World Wildlife Fund, the Department of Energy, Green Army Network Foundation and SWITCH Movement aim to increase participation to about 15 million Filipinos in 1000 towns this year.

As a challenge, Teacher Neric Acosta appeals to everyone to switch off their lights from 8:30 to 9:30 pm.  “Tomorrow, about 1 billion people across time zones all over the world are expected to join this campaign in saving our planet”, Acosta elaborates.

Worsening drought and power outages in Mindanao

“Earth Hour comes at a time when we, as Filipinos, need to collectively act in order to combat the worsening problem of drought that is affecting our country and Mindanao.” Acosta says that according to reports, the beating which Mindanao took from the drought would likely trigger a new wave of migrants heading for Luzon and would adversely affect their local economies.

“Naghihirap na po ang ating mga kababayan sa Mindanao. Wala na silang makain at wala na silang kabuhayan dahil nangamatay na ang kanilang mga pananim dulot ng tagtuyot na ito. Yaman rin lamang at wala tayong maaasahan sa ating gobyerno, mas ikakabuti nating lahat na tayo mismo ang gagalaw at magsama-sama sa paglutas ng suliraning ito. ” Acosta explains how the drought has gravely affected the country especially Mindanao and the government’s inefficiency to address the issue.

Use resources judiciously

Acosta, an environmentalist, expounds that every person can contribute to the mitigation of the ill effects of climate change. Acosta ends with an appeal, “Save ENERGY, Save the EARTH, Save OURSELVES!” Earth Hour is all about giving people a chance to change the future of our planet. This is about people working hand in hand to lessen our carbon footprint and provide a cleaner, greener planet for future generations.”

LP Senatorial Candidate Teacher Neric Acosta: Out With the Old, In With the New!

“Tigilan na ang tiwaling at huwad na pamumuno! Dapat na itong palitan ng isang pamunuang matapat, at wlang bahid ng anumang anumalya. Kung walang corrupt, walang mahirap!” Liberal Party Senatorial candidate Teacher Neric Acosta reacts passionately against reports stating that some allies of Ms. Gloria Macapagal Arroyo were quoted saying that Ms. Arroyo may have a chance to become the Speaker of the House of Representatives if she wins in her bid to become the representative of Pampanga’s second district.

From the horse’s mouth

“I am fearful of a future where a leader—whose term was marred by so many problems involving corruption, human rights abuses, budget deficit, and inadequate social services—would be able to perpetuate her stay in power. Hindi magiging malakas ang loob ng mga kaalyado ni Ginang Arroyo na magbitaw ng ganoong mga salita, kung hindi eto ang planong ginigiit nila.” Acosta explains that according to his source Eastern Samar Governor Ben Evardone, one of her closest allies, convincingly said that Ms. Arroyo will have the numbers if ever she wants to become Speaker. Acosta continues, “Ms. Arroyo will have easily 159 votes for Speaker if all her allies seeking House seats are elected.”

Hand in the cookie jar

“Paano naman po kaya niya masisigurong kanyang makukuha ang mga botong kinakailangan niya upang maging Speaker of the House? Alam na po nating lang magiging sagot diyan. Ang kaban ng bayan, muli na naman pong gagamitin at pakikinabangan ng mga taong ganid sa kapangyarihan.” Acosta laments that the dilemma of corruption and abuse gets deeper every day that passes.

Acosta expounds that this country has had enough of leaders who are unprincipled and always puts themselves first before the Filipinos. “I have said this before, and I would like to reiterate it again, what our country needs are principled and honest leaders who will fight corruption.”
