Glitches in the overseas absentee voting
“It is indeed a huge relief to know that despite some of the precinct count optical scan machines’ failure to read the ballots, overseas voter turnout has been high. This goes to show that the Filipino people value their right to vote. It is therefore imperative that the COMELEC does its part to make sure that there would be no problems on the procurement of the ballot secrecy folders and the indelible ink.” Acosta says that while reports have indicated that there were some glitches in the overseas absentee voting in Hong Kong, Filipinos based there still showed up to vote. This clearly shows that Filipinos value their right to vote.
Acosta adds, however, that the COMELEC still has to address the issues of the ballot secrecy folders, which are overpriced at 380 pesos. Moreover, the supplier of indelible ink to be used on Election Day still has to be determined.
Respect the sanctity of the vote
Kung walang corrupt, walang mahirap,” Acosta ends with a plea to his fellow Filipinos to be more critical in choosing a leader whom they will vote for.
