LP Senatorial Candidate TEACHER NERIC ACOSTA:

Liberal Party Senatorial candidate Teacher Neric Acosta slams Nacionalista Party standard-bearer Manny Villar over news that in 2007, he used his influence on the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Philippine Stock Exchange “to personally lobby for his private business interest”.

Acosta laments that Villar began his campaign on a slew of lies. Lies that intend to fool the Filipino people and secure for Villar the highest position in the land.

Acosta expounds that Villar’s actions are unethical and highly inappropriate because at the time he committed those actions, he was a high-ranking government official personally lobbying for his private business interest – something that under any circumstances should not be done.

Take the cudgels for your actions

“My challenge now to Villar is, be a man and answer these reports. “ Acosta says that if these reports do not hold a grain of truth in them, then there is absolutely no reason for Villar to evade explaining his side. “Patong-patong na ang mga charges against Villar, but he has not directly answered any of them. All that he has done is deny. And when denials did not work, he resorted to fabricating more lies.”

Acosta ends with great conviction.

LP Senatorial Candidate TEACHER NERIC ACOSTA Slams PGMA Appointment of Manicurist as PAG-IBIG Board Member

“I never imagined that the padrino system of doing things, so marked in the Arroyo government with the president appointing friends and relatives in choice government positions can be unsystematically carried out, “ Liberal Party senatorial candidate Teacher Neric Acosta hits on the decision of Gloria Macapagal Arroyo to name her manicurist, Anita Carpon, as the newest board member of the PAG-IBIG Housing Fund.

Stringent Qualifications for Civil Servants

I believe that the position calls for someone who has decades of experience, and sufficient expertise as referred to by Mr. Jarius Bondoc in his column dated April 19. Mrs. Carpon has no expertise to oversee multibillion-peso housing fund.

Acosta explains that gone are the days when truly qualified persons occupied key positions in the government based on merit and stringent qualifications. These careless acts reek of selfishness. I have said this before, and I will say it again. Corruption is not the hopeless case as Malacanang previously portrayed it. The Arroyo leadership is really the problem!”

Lingering social illness

Acosta expounds that almost all the socio-economic problems of the country stems from the ill practices and graft charges of government officials under the Arroyo administration.

LP Senatorial Candidate ‘Teacher ’ Neric Acosta warns COMELEC: Be Accountable. Be Transparent.

May 10 elections.“ Liberal Party Senatorial candidate Teacher Neric Acosta reacts to news that the COMELEC has awarded a contract worth P5.7-million to OTC Paper Supply for the supply and delivery of stamp pads to be used in the May 10 polls.

Notorious deals

Still, COMELEC declared the bidder of these folders worth 380 pesos as the winner; only to admit later that there were lapses in judgment on the part of the commission. Strangely, that same bidder with the overpriced folders is the same company that won this stamp pad deal and in supplying the stamp pads to be used for fingerprinting during the election.” Acosta expounds that the COMELEC is not absolved from the impression that there are irregularities and flaws in their bidding procedures.

No due process in awarding deals

Acosta explains that according to reports, 720,000 bottles of indelible ink would be supplied by Texas Resources Corp. Previously, the COMELEC also ordered the re-bidding of the purchase of indelible ink and reversing its decision and decided to forego with the biding due to lack of time.

Moreover, sources from Comelec said there was no bidding held for the contract awarded to Smartmatic since it was an emergency procurement.
